The futile attempt by the Albanese Labor Government to restart manufacturing in Australia is indicative of their total failure to understand the reasons why manufacturing continues to fail.
Australia’s manufacturing crisis is solely due to the Albanese Labor Government’s wrong priorities and economic incompetence according to Pastoralists and Graziers Association of WA President Tony Seabrook.
“Despite Labor’s election promise that they would ‘rebuild Australian manufacturing’, ASIC statistics on Australian insolvencies show that manufacturing insolvencies have tripled since the last election,” Mr Seabrook said.
“In fact, Labor’s much vaunted $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund, is yet to spend a single dollar, or support a single manufacturer.
“With energy prices for manufacturers continuing to soar and 90 per cent reliable baseload power becoming unattainable under Labor’s flawed ‘renewables-only’ approach, coupled with new industrial relations laws driving up the cost of labour, Australian manufacturing is facing a bleak future.
“And with local manufacturing in decline other industries, especially agriculture will be faced with higher costs of production, forcing up the price of food during a high cost of living crisis.
“Australian manufacturers need a proper economic plan: they need cheaper and consistent energy, less red tape and an industrial relations system that works for businesses and employees, not the unions.
“The pressures Australian manufacturers are facing is solely due to Labor’s economic incompetence and for too many businesses it is already too late. Labor’s continuing failure to deal with high inflation continues to damage the Australian economy and vital sectors like manufacturing.
“It is very clear that the Albanese Labor Government has the wrong priorities and wrong policies to ensure that the Australian economy gets back on track. You can’t spin and spend your way out of a high cost of living crisis.”
